A rope grab that provides excellent performance under the most adverse conditions, even with muddy or iced ropes. They are widely used by rescue teams as a mechanical ratchet in raising systems. The spring-loaded model will support its own weight when there is no load on the cam. Gibbs Ascenders now feature a high-quality forged cam, which provides a product with no cast parts. All 1/2-inch forged 1/2" cams are now anodized for added protection. NOTE The manufacturer states that rope damage occurs when load exceeds 13.4 kN (3,000 Ibf ). This device must not be used where it may catch a shock-loaded rope as these forces can easily be exceeded under such conditions and significant rope damage or failure can occur.

NOTE All camming and toothed rope grabs and ascenders can cause significant damage to ropes if shock loaded such as when stopping a falling load and must not be used where such events are possible.
