540 Rescue Belay Device ( large )

At last, a belay device designed specifically for belaying NFPA two-person loads. Incredibly quick and simple to attach at any point on the rope, with setup and operation accomplished by one person. Bidirectional operation means nothing needs to be modified when changing from a lower to a raise, or back. Symmetrical design allows either end of the rope exiting the device to be attached to the oad. This device does not use a cam or traditional rope grab which concentrates the force at one point and damages the rope. Instead, this device employs a totally new design to spread the force over a larger area of rope ensuring no damage to the rope even after catching a falling NFPA two-person load in the worst-case scenario of a 1/3 fall factor. Does not rely on actions of the belayer to do its job; positive action locks the rope when it catches a falling load, freeing the belayer to assist in the recovery. The rope can be unlocked manually with the integral release mechanism and the load lowered back onto the mainline; no separate release device is needed.

With this device you no longer need to use Munter hitches or tandem prusik/Load release hitch combinations that require skill and practice to rig and operate properly, and which may be difficult to recovery from after catching a fall. And the amount of time taken to rig a belay no longer becomes a factor when deciding whether or not to use a belay line, promoting safety on the rescue scene.

This device significantly improves rigging time and simplifies the process, allowing rescuers to operate a belay with confidence.

Tested to and meets the demanding Belay Competency Drop Test Method criteria as determined by the British Columbia Council of Technical Rescue.
